Abiodun seeks stronger govt-church partnership to raise responsible future leaders

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has called for enhanced collaboration between the government and the Church in nurturing responsible, cultured young people with leadership abilities to propel Nigeria's development. During the Golden Jubilee Thanksgiving Service of the Egba Anglican Diocese in Abeokuta, Abiodun emphasized that while the government provides infrastructure and economic opportunities, the Church must focus on character-building, family strengthening, and instilling moral values in the youth.

This partnership, particularly as the Diocese marks its 50th anniversary simultaneously with Ogun State's golden jubilee, offers a prime opportunity to reflect on progress and recommit to a peaceful, prosperous society. Abiodun stressed that development extends beyond physical infrastructure to investing in human capital and character.

He cautioned against the unchecked advancement of technology and artificial intelligence, urging for a balance with moral advancement, preserving human wisdom, conscience, and responsibility. The Governor affirmed his administration's commitment to religious harmony and unity, vowing to continue partnering with religious leaders to promote peace, unity, and responsible citizenship.

As part of the celebrations, Governor Abiodun unveiled the commemorative plaque for the six-floor Cathedral Tower, hoping that future generations will recognize it as a symbol of a society that valued God, invested in His work, and prepared responsibly for the future. Archbishop Henry Ndukuba, in his sermon, urged Christians to answer God's call with renewed commitment, courage, and strength, marking the jubilee as a testament to God's faithfulness and the Anglican Church's contributions to education and societal development.

The event, attended by dignitaries such as the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the State Government, and the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, also saw Governor Abiodun receive the Distinguished Benefactor of Egba Anglican Diocese Award for his significant contributions to the Diocese's development.
