Despite Japan's selection of reserve players, the Korean team demonstrated resilience by overcoming the odds. The final score was 3-1, with each set scored 40-38, 25-17, 23-25, and 25-22. Korean players Seong-Jin Kwon and Kim Hee-Sung led the scoring with 18 points each, while Lee Jin-Woo contributed 16 points and Choi Gang-Hoon added 10 points.

Center Han Tae-Joon provided a steady ball distribution and game management. The victory earned the Korean team a top spot in the Asian Athletics Championships, elevating their world ranking from 26th to 25th. The Korean team also secured a win over Taiwan and Macau in the preliminary rounds, further boosting their global standing.
