2 charged after armed robbery, attempts to take off in stolen vehicle and carjack 2nd vehicle: Toronto police

Two men have been charged after Toronto police allege they were involved in a series of armed robberies and vehicle incidents. According to investigators, the pair allegedly robbed two people at gunpoint and then attempted to flee the scene in a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred around 3:20 a.m. on Saturday near Bathurst Street and Richmond Street West, according to a statement from the Toronto Police Service.

The suspects allegedly took off in the stolen vehicle, which led to a chase where the vehicle crashed into another vehicle. The suspects then reportedly fled the scene and one of them attempted to unsuccessfully carjack a separate vehicle. As officers tried to apprehend the suspects, one of them allegedly pointed a gun at the officers.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with a variety of offenses, including robbery with a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and possession of a prohibited device. Tajae-J’nye Samuel-Maragh, a 23-year-old resident of Toronto, was charged with multiple counts of robbery with a firearm, possession of a prohibited device, and possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition.

Kingslee Ivan Christie, a 29-year-old resident of Whitby, was charged with multiple counts of disguise with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and dangerous operation of a conveyance.

Both suspects were scheduled to appear in court on Saturday. Investigators are still seeking witnesses or anyone who may have recorded video of the incident.
