Umno ingatkan jangan biar ‘pihak ketiga’ ganggu kerjasama

Umno's Deputy Leader Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has warned against alliances with "third parties" that could disrupt cooperation. During a recent interview, Asyraf emphasized the party's cautious approach to working with other parties, including PAS. He recalled instances where joint efforts between Umno and other parties, such as the National Mandate Party (MN) and PAS, failed due to interference from a third party.

This interference could also originate from within the party itself. Asyraf highlighted past examples where attempts to foster understanding and consensus were thwarted by the involvement of a third party, citing the case of MN, which failed due to external influences. In today's digital age, many individuals aspire to play the role of a hero by issuing broad statements from the highest echelons of a party, causing anxiety among party members.

Despite Umno leading the Barisan National (BN) in a coalition with PN in the recent state election in Negeri Sembilan, Asyraf stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance in cooperative efforts. He stated that the party remains wary of being ensnared by the same web. Asyraf also referenced the split within MN and the current situation with PN, which is led by PAS and has only managed to secure seven seats, while the BN coalition has taken a two-thirds majority in the Dewan Undangan Negeri.

Although BN leader Zahid Hamidi indicated that the coalition would continue in the upcoming PRN election in Melaka, both alliances are reportedly facing difficulties in coalition talks. Meanwhile, Hamzah Zainudin, the President of Wawasan and a component of PN, urged both coalitions to actively participate in the coalition talks.
