The Spanish government has imposed controls at Ceuta's border with Italy since midnight on Saturday following Rome's refusal to lift measures for Spanish citizens imposed due to the migration crisis. These controls will extend at least until September 7, with border control teams deciding whether to inspect entire flights or individual passengers.

In Barcelona, some Italian travelers arriving at the Prat airport reported that Italians were taken to another room for identification. National Police sources at the Barcelona airport facility stated, "Italy is a hot country when it comes to immigration. We will only check passengers we suspect." Meanwhile, over 1,300 minors remain in Ceuta nine days after the irregular entry of 72,000 people from Morocco, as authorities work to accommodate them before starting the relocation process to other autonomous communities.

Minister of Youth and Childhood, Sira Rego, is meeting with Ceuta's President, Juan Jesús Vivas, and the President and Governor Councilor, Alberto Gaitán, at the city's municipal hall.
