Ukrainian goalkeeper Trubin eyes Benfica exit

Ukrainian goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin is contemplating a summer departure from Benfica according to a Portuguese report published on August 7th. The sources suggest Trubin is feeling increasingly marginalized within the club's plans. A contributing factor to his discontent was being kept on the bench for the Europa League third qualifying round opener against Scottish side Hearts, which Benfica won 6-1.

Trubin is reportedly seeking a move during the ongoing transfer window. Interest from top European clubs has reportedly been substantial, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham, Aston Villa and notably Juventus. Despite this, Benfica is not inclined to let the player leave for a fraction of his value. According to Record's sources, Benfica is demanding a transfer fee of at least 20 million euros ($21.8 million) for Trubin.

The 23-year-old has been with Benfica since 2023, joining the Portuguese club from Shakhtar Donetsk. Benfica is currently gearing up for the start of the new Portuguese league season. The club face Académico de Viseu in their opening league match on August 9th, followed by the second leg of their Europa League qualifier against Hearts on August 13th.

Trubin has made 50 appearances for Benfica so far in the 2025-26 campaign, with 20 clean sheets and a goal from a header against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
