Ukraine reportedly strikes Russian oil refineries in Samara Oblast, Krasnodar Krai

Ukrainian forces reportedly launched an attack on oil refineries in Samara Oblast and Krasnodar Krai in Russia overnight on August 8, according to monitoring channels. A fire erupted at an oil refinery in Syzran, Samara Oblast, following a Ukrainian strike, reported Exilenova Plus on Telegram. Additionally, an oil refinery in Ilsky, Krasnodar Krai, was targeted and burned down, according to Supernova Plus.

However, the accuracy of these reports could not be confirmed by the Kyiv Independent at the time of the report. Ukraine has a history of targeting military infrastructure deep within Russia and the occupied territories with the aim of weakening Moscow's capacity to continue its war efforts. On August 7, Ukrainian forces struck a logistics center of the Russian e-commerce giant Wildberries in Yekaterinburg, Russia, as per independent Russian outlet Astra.

Earlier on August 5, Ukrainian drones hit another Wildberries warehouse in Russia's Tula Oblast, authorities confirmed.
