‘Should have been more’: PM Modi on number of girls among IIT Delhi medal winners

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 57th convocation ceremony of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. During the event, he awarded the institute's highest honors to outstanding students. However, Prime Minister Modi expressed disappointment that there were not more female students among the medal recipients.

He urged all graduates to promote greater participation and representation of women in academic and professional achievements, stating that it would have been even better if there had been a few more girls among the medal winners. The Prime Minister presented the most prestigious awards, including the President's Gold Medal, Director's Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and Perfect Ten Gold Medals, to more than 3,000 graduating students, including 587 PhD scholars, at the convocation.

IIT Delhi's Board of Governors Chairperson, Harish Salve, and Director, Prof Rangan Banerjee, also honored the Prime Minister and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi during the ceremony.
