Russia attacks Ukraine with six ballistic missiles and 151 drones

Russian forces launched a coordinated attack on Ukraine overnight on Saturday, August 8th, employing a combination of ballistic missiles and drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Six Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 guided missiles were among the weaponry deployed, alongside 151 Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas attack drones, along with Parodiya decoys.

Ukrainian air defenses successfully shot down 135 of the Russian drones across the nation's northern, southern, and eastern regions. Missile strikes and hits by 13 attack drones were recorded at 12 different locations, while seven other sites were struck by downed targets and debris. The attack was still active as of 9 a.m., with Russian drones still detected in Ukrainian airspace, the military warned.

The attack on Kyiv was particularly intense, with explosions reported across the capital, leading to fires in the Holosiivskyi and Obolonskyi districts. The Ukrainian State Emergency Service reported that the incident resulted in four injuries and the death of three people, including a child, in the Brovary district of Kyiv Oblast.
