Road to LA28: Ghana’s Para Powerlifters Set Sights on Russia

The national Para Powerlifting Team from Ghana is preparing for the upcoming 2026 International Para Powerlifting Competition in Russia, a crucial step towards the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. This five-member delegation, consisting of Francis Kwaku, Nfodzo Patrick, Obeng Samuel, Lead Coach Toulassi Frank, and Assistant Coach Oheneadu George, is part of the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana's "Target the Podium" Initiative.

This strategic program aims to prepare Ghanaian para-athletes for high-level international competitions and ultimately the LA28 Paralympics. Led by NPC Ghana President Samson Deen, the initiative focuses on building athletes with the necessary skills, confidence, technical preparation, and a winning mentality to challenge for the Paralympic podium.

The Russia mission is supported by the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana and the Russian Paralympic Committee, providing Ghanaian athletes with valuable international competition and exposure to high-level sporting environments. The coaches emphasize that every lift and competition in Russia will contribute to the athletes' development and increase their chances of success in Los Angeles 2028.
