Red Sox bid for 2nd win streak of 10 or more games ends in 7-3 loss to Athletics

Jake Bennett, the Red Sox's starting pitcher, gave up three runs over six innings, but was unable to secure a victory. The Athletics' bullpen, which had the highest ERA in the majors at 5.64 prior to the game, allowed only one run in the final three innings. Andruw Monasterio of the Red Sox drove in a run with a two-run single, while Tyler Soderstrom and Henry Bolte each hit solo homers for the Athletics.

Jonah Heim and Donovan Walton added two-run doubles in the sixth inning to seal the win for the A's. This loss marked the Red Sox's first defeat since July 28, when they defeated the Red Sox at home. First baseman Willson Contreras, who had returned from missing two games due to illness, went 0 for 4 and was booed for his light jogging after a ground out.

The Athletics' relief pitcher Hogan Harris secured the win with a save, recording his 10th of the season.
