Rahul Gandhi to address District Congress Committee presidents near Chennai

Rahul Gandhi, leader of the opposition in Parliament, is set to visit Chennai on Saturday. He will join 74 District Congress Committee presidents at a closed-door meeting at a hotel on East Coast Road near Mamallapuram. The media will not have access to this private gathering. Sources within the party expect Mr. Gandhi to greet the families of the district presidents and discuss rebuilding the party in Tamil Nadu.

This region is experiencing a resurgence, buoyed by the party's return to power after a 59-year absence since 1967. The TNCC president, Manickam Tagore, along with Congress State Ministers S. Rajeshkumar and P. Viswanathan, are anticipated to attend the meeting. In anticipation of Mr. Gandhi's arrival, a grand welcome reception has been arranged at the airport on Saturday morning.
