Private Schools Reject New School Timings in Sindh

The All Sindh Private Schools and Colleges Association has urged the Sindh government to reconsider new extended school timings, arguing they are impractical given current conditions. Chairman Haider Ali called on Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah to reconsider the revised timetable and propose a schedule that accounts for local realities.

He highlighted challenges like extreme heat, lunch and prayer breaks, madrassa timetables, older students' household duties, travel times, and second-shift arrangements as making longer school hours difficult to manage. While developed nations may run schools for longer hours, Ali noted their institutions have facilities absent in local schools.

The association also noted the new timings have caused difficulties for parents, teachers, and administrators. Ali and other senior officials emphasized that government and private schools in Sindh should maintain identical school timings. They insisted the recently issued schedule is unworkable and unlikely to achieve desired outcomes, demanding an immediate review of all relevant factors by the government.

The association also praised the Sindh government's recent education initiatives, viewing them as a model for the rest of Pakistan.
