PPS says family visit ban exposes Palestinian prisoners to further Israeli abuse

The Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) has criticized Israel's decision to reinstate the ban on family visits for Palestinian detainees, stating that it will enable the Israeli prison system to continue abusing incarcerated Palestinians, according to Wafa. The PPS argues that Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's renewal of the ban is part of a deliberate strategy to "isolate detainees completely and transform prisons into isolated settings where torture, starvation, and slow deaths can persist without external scrutiny or accountability."

The PPS further notes that the ban came shortly after the Israeli Supreme Court found the ongoing prohibition of visits by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Palestinian detainees to be illegal, as reported by Wafa.
