Huddersfield to play at Dewsbury from next season

Huddersfield Giants have announced they will play at Dewsbury Rams Flair Stadium from next season. The stadium, opened in 1994, will see the Giants transition from their current Accu Stadium, which they have called home since 1994. The club has committed to upgrading the Flair Stadium with an investment of over £10 million, aiming to create a more suitable environment for their fans and partners.

Despite the mixed reactions, the club's director Rebecca Jackson, granddaughter of owner Ken Davy, emphasized that Huddersfield Giants remain based in Huddersfield and their ultimate goal is to return to a new stadium in the town. The club is still exploring the possibility of building their own stadium in Huddersfield, acknowledging it as their long-term intention.

The Giants have been sharing the Accu Stadium with Huddersfield Town since its opening. The transition to Dewsbury has been a tough sell, as the 24,500-capacity stadium is considered too large for the Giants and has led to a decline in fan atmosphere. Owner Davy's efforts to secure a new stadium for the club have been unsuccessful, making this move a significant challenge.
