Govt restores original medical board for exhumation of Mir Raza’s body

The body of Mir Raza Ali, an IBA graduate and businessman, is set to undergo exhumation on Saturday. The exhumation, initially planned for Friday morning, was postponed due to objections from Raza's family who disputed the reconstitution of a medical board. The family had informed the investigating officer that they would not accept the exhumation under any circumstances due to concerns about the qualifications and intentions of the new board members.

The original eight-member board, which included Dr Summaiya Syed as convener, had been constituted by the Sindh health department. However, the board was replaced by a new five-member board on Friday morning, consisting of Prof Dr Zakiuddin, Prof Dr Kazi Akbar, Prof Dr Abid Hussain Chang, and Hyderabad Police Surgeon Dr Waseem Khan.

The family accused the authorities of attempting to bury the facts and held the police, health department, and Sindh government responsible for the delay. The family's counsel, Jibran Nasir, formally submitted a letter to the police surgeon, formally informing her of the family's non-consent and stating that the reconstituted board was in "complete violation and negation" of the court's order.

The Sindh health secretary later issued a notification restoring the original eight-member medical board, and the exhumation is now scheduled to take place at the graveyard adjacent to Rehmania Masjid at 11am on Saturday.
