BlackRock, ResMed and Thales chiefs among MNC leaders honoured in National Day Awards

Three prominent multinational company leaders, BlackRock chairman Larry Fink, ResMed CEO Michael Farrell, and Thales chairman Patrice Caine, were among the 56 recipients of Singapore's National Day Awards on August 9. These recipients were recognized for their significant public service and distinguished contributions to the nation across various fields such as business, professions, science, sports, and arts.

Fink, as the head of BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has been a key advisor to Singapore's Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on global macroeconomic trends, private market growth, and the influence of artificial intelligence on financial services. Under his leadership, BlackRock has expanded its operations in Singapore, becoming the largest asset manager in the region and a crucial hub for risk analytics, technology solutions, and infrastructure.

Farrell, CEO of ResMed, has played a pivotal role in strengthening the medical device company's presence in Singapore, with its largest advanced manufacturing plant and regional headquarters located in the city-state. Caine, Thales' chairman, has been instrumental in growing the French defense and technology company's operations in Singapore, particularly in digital identity and security and aviation solutions.

The Public Service Star, the award received by these leaders, is the highest civilian honor given to individuals for their valuable public service or outstanding contributions to Singapore. This year, a total of 7,491 individuals will be awarded National Day honors in 24 different categories, including the prestigious Order of Temasek (with Distinction) bestowed upon Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon and former Council of Presidential Advisers chairman Eddie Teo.
