Anwar pledges thorough probe into every Tabung Haji RCI finding following King’s decree

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — The Malaysian government has pledged to conduct a thorough investigation into every recommendation made in the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the Tabung Haji (TH), following a decree by King Sultan Ibrahim, according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Facebook post. Anwar, who also serves as Finance Minister, expressed his gratitude to the Sultan for granting him audience to update him on several important matters regarding the country's interests and the welfare of the people.

He emphasized that the order for a comprehensive investigation into the RCI report aligns with the Madani government's commitment to ensuring that all recommendations and findings are investigated meticulously and without compromise. TH, which manages a trust funded by the savings of millions of Malaysians, including farmers, civil servants, and middle- and lower-income earners, has been under scrutiny for its management and operations between 2014 and 2020.

The RCI report, published on July 29, highlighted various weaknesses within the institution. Anwar, while briefing the King on other developments, including the investigation into the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), reaffirmed the Madani government's dedication to good governance, transparency, and accountability. He vowed that no individual who betrayed the trust of the people would go unpunished, regardless of their position or rank, as the government remains committed to strengthening governance, enforcement, and national security while prioritizing the wellbeing of the people.
