Akron's college football season ticket sales have surged following a unique offer for fans to potentially script the team's opening drive in their home opener. A promotion announced by the school earlier this week allows one lucky winner to become the "Offensive Coordinator of the Game" for Akron's September 12 matchup against Robert Morris.

The winner will collaborate with head coach Joe Moorhead to design the drive's plays. While the idea was initially met with skepticism from Moorhead and Moorehead, it has garnered significant attention, with the promotion post amassing over 22 million views on X. Season tickets, priced at just $75, are also being purchased by fans from across the country who hope to win the grand prize.

Akron's director of athletics, Dr. Andrew T. Goodrich, revealed that ticket sales have reached their highest level since the InfoCision Stadium opened in 2009. The winner will have the opportunity to script the opening 10 to 15 offensive plays of the game, which will be played against Robert Morris on September 12.
