The coach has been limited in practices following a car accident on July 14, during which he sustained multiple injuries. Speaking to ESPN, Shanahan expressed that he feels "about 100%" in terms of his recovery.

He revealed that he has learned to manage fatigue and headaches by maintaining a balanced routine. Shanahan detailed his journey towards full strength, mentioning he eliminated certain "fake work" activities to prevent further setbacks. The coach's recovery took a significant turn when he participated in a media interview at the 49ers' training camp on Saturday.

Shanahan stressed the importance of limiting his presence at the team's facility, saying he avoids daily attendance as it disrupts his normal routine, which involves extensive tape analysis and post-session walking through. He is confident that he will eventually return to his full schedule. The 49ers are set to play three preseason games before the regular season opener against the Los Angeles Rams on September 10.
