Zanetor Rawlings could be moved in bigger Cabinet reshuffle – Nitiwul

Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has indicated that Environment, Science and Technology Minister Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings could be reassigned in a forthcoming Cabinet reshuffle planned by President John Mahama. Speaking with The Pulse on JoyNews, Nitiwul expressed surprise at Dr Rawlings' recent appointment but believes she is more suited for a different role.

He stated that she was expected to be appointed as a Minister of State in another ministry before her current role. Nitiwul suggested that her placement in the Environment, Science and Technology Ministry might be temporary, as the country is eagerly awaiting a more comprehensive reshuffle. He noted that many Ghanaians, including members of his own party, are calling for the removal of underperforming ministers.

The former Defence Minister acknowledged the political challenges of removing MPs from their parliamentary seats when reshuffling, but emphasized that the President faces similar dilemmas as previous administrations. He highlighted that Mahama's own appointments have made future reshuffles more complicated, as he has already made his own choices.

Despite the obstacles, Nitiwul remains confident that another Cabinet reshuffle is necessary and warned that failing to act by the end of the year could lead to internal problems within the governing party. He reiterated his expectation that Dr Rawlings will be moved to a more appropriate ministry during the upcoming reshuffle.
