'You don’t often see someone biking around with a football' – Meet the endurance cyclist attempting a 10,000-mile all-American odyssey

Bond Almand, a 22-year-old cyclist, is on a mission to ride a football between the 30 stadiums of the National Football League (NFL) before the start of the 2026-27 season. Almand, who holds two world records for big-distance cycling, is currently cycling between 170 and 200 miles a day, enduring a scorching heatwave in Dallas, Texas.

At one point, he had to switch to using tubes after tearing a tubeless tyre, and he currently carries a bike with a custom paint job and a unique carbon football holder. The trip aims to raise money and awareness for GENYOUth, an organization that promotes sports and healthy living for children in America. As he approaches the halfway mark, Almand will face challenging conditions, including traversing the Rocky Mountains, and will be receiving support from his girlfriend during the desert portions of his journey.
