YEA to expand youth employment opportunities in Western North – Malik Basintale

Malik Basintale, Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), has expressed the agency's dedication to broadening employment prospects for Ghana's youth, with a focus on the Western North Region. This pledge was made on August 6 during a visit to the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, at the Regional Coordinating Council.

Brentum praised Western North as one of Ghana's most peaceful and welcoming areas and highlighted the significance of youth in President John Dramani Mahama's Reset Agenda. He emphasized the region's development hinges on ongoing investment in its young people's abilities, creativity, and potential. Brentum urged the YEA to give priority to Western North in its employment and empowerment initiatives and to support the region's nominee in the 2026 Ghana's Most Beautiful competition.

In response, Basintale expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister and the people of Western North, reiterating the agency's commitment to providing employment opportunities across the country, irrespective of location. He disclosed that the YEA had already engaged more than 9,000 young people via its nationwide sanitation module, trained 30,000 beneficiaries through various skills development programs, including around 800 from the Western North Region, and created over 1,800 youth jobs in the region.

Basintale also shared that over 600 Ghanaian youth have gained from international exchange programs, with more opportunities to follow in the months ahead. The visit aimed to not only extend a courtesy call to the Regional Minister but also to fortify collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council to foster sustainable jobs and amplify youth opportunities in the Western North Region.
