USC Officially Opens New Football Performance Center

The University of Southern California (USC) officially unveiled its new $50 million Bloom Football Performance Center on Wednesday, shortly after the start of fall camp. Philanthropist and alumnus Ronald H. Bloom and his family provided the substantial donation to help finance the construction of the football facility. With over $200 million raised so far, USC aims to raise an additional $20 million to finalize the project.

USC head coach Lincoln Riley expressed his enthusiasm about the new facility, calling it "magical" during a press release. "To come in here for the first time was powerful," he said. "It's a significant step for our program."

The three-story facility is designed to cater to player experience, game preparation, team connection, and coaching offices. The first floor focuses on player development, while the second floor is dedicated to game preparation, player development, and team bonding. The top floor houses the coaches' offices.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the new facility boasts an impressive array of recovery modalities to aid players' rehabilitation. These include float beds, infrared therapy beds, sleep pods, AI-powered massage chairs from Japan, and zero-gravity chairs. Riley emphasized the significance of the recovery technology, stating that it surpasses any other athletic facility currently available.

"The recovery for the players in this building is off the charts," he remarked. "It's so important. The ability we have from the number of people we can recover via all different types of modalities at the same time is exponentially greater than anything we've ever had before."

As the second-largest capital project in USC Athletics history, the Bloom Football Performance Center ranks just behind the LA Memorial Coliseum, which underwent $315 million in renovations. USC is also simultaneously constructing a new baseball stadium and a dedicated golf practice facility.
