US Senate pushes CLARITY Act vote to September

Senate Majority Leader John Thune announced that the US Senate will delay the CLARITY Act vote until September. The bill, which aims to establish a federal framework for digital asset markets, has been facing opposition from Democrats and has not yet received sufficient support. Thune cited the Democratic stance as the reason for pushing the vote to the next session, stating that it would be prioritized upon the senators' return in September.

Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott had previously urged for a vote on the CLARITY Act before the recess, but Thune remains confident in his ability to schedule the procedural vote. Crypto Council for Innovation CEO Ji Hun Kim expressed disappointment with the postponement, emphasizing that the lack of a regulatory framework risks American users and builders. The bill's progress now depends on securing the necessary Democratic backing.
