Ukraine’s military intelligence confirms attack on Yalta

Ukraine's Defense Intelligence revealed on Friday, Aug. 7, that its Group 13 unit had launched an attack on the Russian-occupied city of Yalta using Magura naval drones. This strike occurred just a day before Yalta City Day, a holiday typically marked with festivities in the city. According to the agency, the Defense Intelligence special forces had "staged a parade of Magura combat maritime platforms," reviving a long-standing tradition that began in free Yalta.

This ceremonial appearance of Ukrainian military vessels off the city's waterfront was intended to celebrate and assert Ukraine's control over the region.

The Defense Intelligence made clear that the strike served as a warning to the Russian occupiers, emphasizing that Crimea remains Ukrainian. Earlier that same day, Telegram channels reported the strike on Yalta, with some sources suggesting the port may have been targeted. In response to the reported attack, Russian occupation authorities urged residents to evacuate beaches and waterfront areas immediately.
