Top-30 overall recruit Justin Wise stays home, commits to Georgia

Justin Wise, ranked 30th among recruits in the 2027 class by Rivals Top-150, has chosen to remain in Athens and commit to Georgia. Standing at 6-foot-4, the four-star shooting guard from North Oconee, GA, made the choice over Texas, Tennessee, Miami, Vanderbilt, and Clemson. This marks Georgia's first commitment in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

During an interview with Rivals, Wise discussed his decision, citing Georgia's familiarity and the coaching staff's familiarity. He praised Coach White and his team, noting their success in reaching the tournament the past two seasons. When asked about his playing style, Wise described himself as a "do-it-all guard" who can play point, shooting guard, and also defend proficiently on the perimeter.

His message to UGA fans is clear: "Athens is the best college town in America and Georgia is going to have Stegeman Coliseum rocking. Georgia is a scary place to play at in the years to come. Go Dawgs!"

Wise's performance with Jet Academy on the Nike EYBL Circuit is noteworthy, where he averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per game, shooting nearly 36% from three-point range. At the NBPA Top-100 Camp this summer, he was among the top performers, according to Rivals national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw.

Shaw highlighted Wise's ability to move seamlessly between positions, shoot well off the catch, and advance the ball to create opportunities for teammates. Shaw described Wise as a "low-maintenance guy who raises the floor of his team" and noted that he had "18 points on 6-11 shooting in his first game."
