TNEA 2026 counselling: Tentative allotments given to over 79,000 students in second round

The second round of counselling for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 concluded on Thursday, August 6, 2026, with the issuance of tentative allotments for 79,403 students on Friday, August 7. Those who received tentative allotments must confirm their seat by 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, as per a press release from TNEA.

The second round allocated to 93,117 candidates in the general academic category, of which 68,388 candidates received tentative allotments. In the horizontal reservation category, 7.5% reserved for students who studied in government schools from Class VI to XII, 11,015 allotments were provided out of 15,466 eligible candidates. The total tentative allotments for the second round last year were 80,650, with 70,116 candidates from the general academic category receiving tentative allotments.
