Sanwo-Olu orders manhunt, prosecution of Lagos bridge vandals

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has issued an order for a manhunt and prosecution of individuals responsible for damaging the Festac-Alakija Bridge. In a statement released through the Lagos State Government's X account, Sanwo-Olu denounced the act as an assault on the state's socio-economic assets and warned of zero tolerance towards destruction of public property.

The governor emphasized that "Lagos will not tolerate any act of vandalism because it is barbaric and criminal." Anyone found culpable will face legal consequences. He assured that the bridge's structural integrity remained intact, following assessments by state engineers, and promised immediate remedial work if needed. Sanwo-Olu urged residents to remain vigilant in reporting suspicious activities around public utilities. During a recent operation, the state arrested 27 suspects linked to the bridge vandalism.
