REDMI A7 Officially Unveiled In Malaysia With 13MP Rear Camera

Xiaomi's sub-brand REDMI has introduced the REDMI A7 smartphone to the Malaysian market. This model serves as the more budget-friendly alternative to the REDMI A7 Pro, which was unveiled in April. As an entry-level device, the A7 aims to provide affordable options without compromising on essential features. In terms of appearance, the A7 closely resembles its predecessor, featuring a 8.26mm thick body and weighing 193 grams.

Its specifications are also similar to the REDMI A5, with the main difference being its camera system. The device maintains the 6.88-inch LCD display from the previous generation, offering a resolution of 1,640 x 720 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and 450 nits of brightness. It also includes Wet Touch Technology, enabling it to be operated with wet hands.

For security, the phone includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and AI face unlock. The REDMI A7 is powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset, which is the same processor found in its higher-end sibling. This processor is coupled with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. A 5,200mAh battery powers the phone, supporting 15W wired charging.

The device supports 4G and WiFi 5 connectivity. The rear camera is a single 13MP unit with a 1/3.06-inch sensor and an f/2.2 aperture, a significant upgrade from the 32MP 1/3.6-inch lens in its predecessor. However, the front-facing camera remains unchanged at 8MP. The REDMI A7 is available in three color options: Black, Sky Blue, and Orchid Purple.

Despite its release now, the device is set to go on sale starting September 15, 2026. Customers can purchase it through Xiaomi's physical stores, the Mi online store, and the brand's official stores on Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. The phone is priced at RM469, which is higher than the previous generation.
