Qatar participates in King Abdulaziz International Holy Qur’an Competition in Makkah

Doha, Qatar is set to take part in the prestigious 46th King Abdulaziz International Holy Qur'an Competition, held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah from August 6 to 19, 2026. The competition, organized by the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, invites the world's finest Qur'an memorizers to demonstrate their skills in recitation, interpretation, and memorization.

Qatar's involvement in the event underscores the country's commitment to promoting the Holy Qur'an, its memorizers, and Islamic values. The delegation, led by Omar Aqla Al Ruwaili, consists of two Qur'an memorizers each accompanied by their instructors. They will compete in two categories: one for the complete memorization of the Qur'an with proficiency in recitation and Tajweed, and another for the memorization of 15 consecutive Juz' (parts) of the Qur'an.

The participation of Qatar highlights the advanced level of Qur'an education in the country and the Ministry's dedication to nurturing talent and preparing participants for international competitions. Head of the Qatari delegation, Omar Al Ruwaili, emphasized that supporting outstanding Qur'an memorizers is a priority, as it not only helps them hone their skills but also strengthens Qatar's presence in global Qur'anic forums.

Al Ruwaili assured that the selected contestants were the best of Qatar's Qur'an talents, chosen after a rigorous preparation and evaluation process. He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver outstanding performances and achieve commendable results in the competition.
