PortXchange joins SASHA Coalition, bringing port emissions and operational insight

PortXchange has become the inaugural member of the SASHA Coalition, an industry alliance dedicated to promoting sustainable shipping and aviation energy systems. The SASHA Coalition aims to secure ports a greater role in policy, funding, and infrastructure decisions related to the energy transition. Ports are pivotal in the delivery of new fuels, construction of infrastructure, and the overall success of the energy transition, yet their potential has often been overlooked, according to Sjoerd de Jager, Managing Director & Co-Founder of PortXchange.

De Jager emphasized that ports' role in driving climate action has been largely underestimated, and that PortXchange is joining the SASHA Coalition to incorporate the port perspective into discussions and turn zero-emission ambitions into reality.

PortXchange will contribute its EmissionInsider platform to the coalition, providing ports with visibility into emissions generated from ships, trucks, rail, and terminal activity. This tool enables users to pinpoint emission hotspots, assess reduction measures, plan infrastructure, and make investment decisions based on emissions data.

De Jager stressed that clean-fuel infrastructure decisions cannot proceed without credible data on vessel activity, operational patterns, and where investments will have the most significant impact. PortXchange's objective is to ensure that ports have the necessary infrastructure and operational readiness to support investments in the energy transition.

Sabrina Khan-Dighe, Membership & Advocacy Officer at the SASHA Coalition, stated that the coalition will advocate for zero-emission shipping policies that recognize ports as key players in the transition, rather than merely as the settings where everyone else's plans are executed.
