Player profile: Jack Leyrer's career has been built by patience

As the 2026 football season approaches, Auburn Tigers fans will soon get to know one of their key players: offensive lineman Jack Leyrer. Known for his patience, Leyrer has built his career over the years, starting from his time at Stanford. After signing with the Cardinal from the 2021 recruiting class, Leyrer had to wait until the 2022 season to get his first taste of action, appearing in three games as a redshirt freshman and starting in three of those games.

Leyrer's playing time was limited in the 2023 season when he appeared in only three games as a sophomore before his career finally took off in 2024. That year, he saw action in 12 games, making 10 starts. His versatility shone through as he divided his 693 snaps between left tackle, right tackle, and left guard, with most of his time at left guard, but also appearing in two full games at left tackle and four games at right tackle.

However, a setback ahead of the 2025 season halted his progress when he suffered an undisclosed injury, sidelining him for the entire season. Leyrer applied for and received a medical hardship for the 2026 season, granting him the opportunity to play for Auburn and be considered for a starting role on the offensive line. This gives Auburn fans a reason to look forward to seeing Leyrer's progress in the upcoming season.
