Osun-Osogbo Festival symbolises Yoruba culture, says Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has hailed the annual Osun-Osogbo Festival as a potent symbol of Yoruba culture and a priceless heritage that encapsulates the historic bond between the people of Osogbo and the revered Osun River. During a felicitation event for the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, and Osogbo's people at home and abroad, Adeleke underscored the festival's enduring significance as one of Africa's premier traditional celebrations.

The governor emphasized that the event encapsulates centuries of history, spirituality, and cultural identity, as celebrated through the sacred procession led by the Arugba, the Ataoja's royal presence, traditional rites at the Osun Sacred Grove, and cultural displays. In a statement released by his spokesperson, Rasheed, Adeleke commended traditional leaders, cultural custodians, and festival participants for their unwavering commitment to preserving the tradition.

The governor's commendation echoed the importance of the tradition in sustaining Osun State's cultural heritage and attracting global attention, with the festival serving as a platform to showcase the state's rich cultural tapestry to the world.
