Nigeria, China deepen creative ties with film, literature exchange deal

Nigeria and China have strengthened their cultural and creative cooperation by signing a strategic agreement between the China Movie Channel and the Nigerian Television Authority. The agreement, signed at the China-Nigeria Film and Literature Symposium in Abuja, aims to boost content exchange, film co-productions, professional training, and people-to-people exchanges.

The partnership, which follows the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, is expected to foster mutual understanding and friendship. Chinese Ambassador Yu Dunhai highlighted the strength of both countries' creative industries, noting that China has over 93,000 cinema screens and produces more than 700 films annually, while Nigeria’s Nollywood, the world's second-largest film industry, produces over 2,000 films per year.

The agreement also seeks to promote literary exchanges and collaborations between Chinese and Nigerian filmmakers, creative professionals, and authors.
