Maharashtra government decides to withdraw FIRs against protesters; police continue investigation

The Maharashtra government has recently withdrawn First Information Reports (FIRs) against students and youth involved in recent protests, though the investigation continues. The decision came after a meeting between representatives of the All India Students’ Federation (AISF) and top police officials. However, legal procedures such as statement recording and notice issuance are still ongoing.

AISF President Aamir Kazi expressed concern over students still receiving calls and notices, leading to fear and confusion. The Mumbai Police informed AISF that they would continue with the investigation until an order to halt the process is received. The government's resolution on case withdrawal is valid until July 31, with ongoing investigations and potential delays in filing charge sheets.

AISF remains committed to the struggle until all notices and legal proceedings against peaceful protesters are withdrawn.
