iPhone 18 Pro is getting even more ‘Pro’ this year in three ways

This year, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models promise to become even more 'Pro' in three key areas. Cameras have been a defining feature of Apple's Pro line, and this trend is set to continue with the iPhone 18 Pro. According to rumors, there are two camera upgrades that will be exclusive to the Pro models. One possibility is variable aperture, although another rumor suggests it may be restricted to the iPhone Ultra due to the physical size required.

Another Pro-exclusive feature is an improved telephoto lens, which will not be present in the iPhone Ultra. This telephoto lens is expected to offer better low-light performance compared to its predecessor. In terms of battery life, the Pro line has historically been a strong point for Apple. Rumors indicate that both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max will have larger batteries.

The Pro Max, in particular, may see significant improvements, with a recent leak suggesting an eSIM version could feature a 5567mAh battery – a notable increase from its predecessor's 5088mAh. The combination of larger batteries with efficiency gains from the A20 Pro chip and C2 modem is expected to result in the best battery life yet for this year's Pro models.

However, there's a less appealing possibility that could make the iPhone 18 Pro even more 'Pro' – price increases. Analysts predict starting prices for the Pro models will be higher than ever before. The iPhone 18 Pro could launch several hundred dollars more expensive than the current iPhone Air, which Apple is expected to continue selling.

Moreover, it may nearly double the price of the iPhone 17, which was released just last year. While it's possible Apple might also raise prices on older models, the widening 'Pro' price gap is expected to be more significant this year.
