Innere Sicherheit: Sprengstoff-Drohne in Leipzig: Russland sieht „Provokation“

The Russian embassy in Berlin has declared the discovery of a bomb-laden drone at Leipzig/Halle Airport as a provocation aimed at Moscow. The statement alleges that the attack serves only the interests of Kyiv and the militarist faction within European politics. Furthermore, the embassy warns of a "new wave of anti-Russian hysteria in Germany."

According to the embassy, the hybrid attack is directed at Ukraine, which lacks weapons and needs arguments to continue pouring unlimited financial resources into a corrupt regime. The embassy criticizes the incident as a means to stir public opinion against Moscow in the media without presenting any evidence. However, politicians are already referring to a war-triggering act against Germany and NATO, and the necessity for Berlin's countermeasures.

The embassy emphasizes that the greatest danger to Germany today does not lie in the much-maligned "hybrid attacks" by Moscow, but rather in politicians who enthusiastically draft scenarios for an imminent war against Russia and propose that German citizens participate. Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) only mentioned a "hybrid" attack by foreign powers, without holding Russia accountable.

Other politicians and experts, however, attribute the incident to Moscow. The Federal Prosecutor's Office is investigating the attempted use of a bomb explosion and dangerous interference in air traffic, according to the Karlsruhe authority. In the vicinity of the Leipzig/Halle Airport on the evening of Wednesday, a drone armed with explosives and a trigger was discovered near Ukrainian transport planes and detonated, causing a subsequent collision with an unknown smaller flying object, possibly a second drone.
