I tested shoes from 5 up-and-coming running brands — here are the ones worth your money

In recent years, emerging running shoe brands have begun to produce exceptional sneakers in their first or second attempts, often outperforming well-established brands like Nike and Asics. To provide insight into the current market, I tested shoes from five up-and-coming brands, including R.A.D, Dynafish, and Mount to Coast.

R.A.D, initially a gym-focused brand, has now expanded into running shoes with a trio of daily training sneakers. The R.A.D Mallow offers max-cushioning, while the R.A.D Synth is a lighter, more affordable option. However, the standout performer among these is the R.A.D UFO, a springy super-trainer with a unique design and an enjoyable ride. Considering their potential, R.A.D appears to have a promising future in the running shoe industry.

Meanwhile, Chinese brand Dynafish has been generating attention through their Xiaonian super-trainer, which has become popular on platforms like AliExpress. Now available directly in the United States through select retailers, the Dynafish Xiaonian is an outstanding daily trainer that competes with premium super-trainers like the Asics Megablast at a significantly lower price. Its lightweight, comfortable, and versatile design makes it a worthy contender, and I am eager to see the upcoming releases from Dynafish.

Lastly, Mount to Coast, a brand dedicated to ultra-long-distance running shoes, has gained a dedicated following with its innovative designs and midsole foam technology. The brand's offerings are not the most aesthetically pleasing or the most responsive, but they are comfortable, durable, and provide a smooth ride, making them a strong option for marathon training.

Among the shoes tested, the Mount to Coast C1 proved to be the most comfortable and enjoyable daily trainer, securing its position as the top performer from this brand.
