Fedorov in talks with Musk to lift Starlink restrictions on strikes inside Russia

Mykhailo Fedorov is engaged in high-stakes talks with SpaceX's Elon Musk to potentially lift restrictions on using Starlink satellite internet for striking military targets within Russia, according to a defense advisor, Serhii Sternenko. When questioned about targeting Russian ballistic missile launchers via Starlink, Fedorov confirmed ongoing consultations on the subject.

The Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister confirmed that Musk and the Ukrainian delegation have been in regular contact, particularly over the past few days. Fedorov stressed that achieving their desired outcomes from these discussions presents a significant challenge. He noted that previous negotiations had successfully restricted the Russian military's use of Starlink terminals in temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories.

Fedorov highlighted the potential threat posed by the deployment of Starlink by Russian forces, especially on strike drones, to Ukraine during their occupation. While Fedorov could not disclose further details due to operational security concerns, he expressed his commitment to making progress in these talks. This development follows earlier reports that Russian forces may have started integrating Starlink terminals into their Shahed attack drones.

SpaceX's Elon Musk had previously responded to Ukraine's call, stating that technical measures to prevent unauthorized use of Starlink by Russia had reportedly proven successful.
