Ex-non-League footballer urges young players to seek opportunities abroad

Former non-league footballer Ibrahim Thomas, who played across dozens of clubs and several countries, has urged young players to seek opportunities abroad. Thomas, who spent the longest part of his career at Brighouse Town between 2020 and 2023, has played in England, Belgium, Canada, and the United States. He believes that working under different coaches and adapting to various styles of football was invaluable.

While some of his moves were motivated by financial reasons, Thomas encourages young players to experience playing in different countries if given the chance. He also revealed that his career nearly ended in 2013 due to a serious groin injury, and he had considered joining the army while working in a call centre in Rotherham before rejoining football with Thunder Bay Chill in Ontario, Canada.
