Colts Sign 10th Year Ex-Division Rival Tight End

On August 6, the Indianapolis Colts made two significant moves during their roster management. Firstly, they secured a two-year, $44 million extension with running back Jonathan Taylor, ensuring his presence in the team through the 2028 season. However, the team also added a surprise signing - former Los Angeles Rams tight end and 10-year veteran Pharaoh Brown. This addition occurred alongside the removal of another tight end, Sean McKeon, from the Indianapolis Colts' roster.

Pharaoh Brown's professional journey began in 2017 when he became an undrafted free agent with the then Oakland Raiders. Since then, he has been a journeyman tight end, never reaching the status of a starting player. Nevertheless, Brown has consistently contributed to his teams as a reliable inline Y-blocking tight end, who occasionally proves to be a solid receiving threat.

Over his decade-long career, Brown has played for six different offenses, including those of division rivals such as the Houston Texans, showcasing his adaptability in various offensive schemes.

Despite not being a high draft pick and often being a backup tight end, Brown has managed to start 56 games throughout his career. This longevity and experience in the league make him a valuable addition to the tight end room of the Indianapolis Colts. While the team's current depth chart is primarily focused on Will Mallory, Drew Ogletree, Tyler Warren, and Mo Alie-Cox, Brown's expertise in blocking could be beneficial for the team, especially during training camp.
