Celtic close in on £9m Haissem Hassan deal after major transfer breakthrough

Celtic is reportedly close to finalising a £9 million deal for Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan, as per Sky Sports. The 24-year-old has been on Celtic's radar for over a month, with the Scottish champions tracking his progress since his impressive World Cup performance against Argentina last month. Celtic are said to be working on an agreement which would involve an initial £6 million payment, with potential add-ons bringing the total to approximately £9 million.

Spanish media reports suggest that negotiations are nearing completion, although Real Oviedo will not retain the full amount due to Hassan's former club Villarreal being entitled to a percentage. While other clubs have shown interest, including Farès Ghedjems, Celtic's pursuit of Hassan appears to have gained momentum following his standout display at the World Cup.

The winger, who primarily plays on the right despite being left-footed, has faced a difficult season at Oviedo, failing to score in 38 appearances. However, his potential move to Celtic is not solely based on his World Cup exploits, as the club has shown interest in Hassan for some time.
