Außenhandel: Chinas Exporte nach Deutschland steigen weiter kräftig

Shanghai experienced a significant surge in China's exports to Germany in July, as reported by the latest figures from the country's customs authority. This surge can largely be attributed to the global investment boom in artificial intelligence (AI), which managed to offset weather-related disruptions in trade and logistics. Year-on-year, exports increased by 23.9 percent, according to the authority.

Meanwhile, imports rose by 27.5 percent. Consequently, the trade deficit narrowed slightly, decreasing from $125.62 billion in June to $112.5 billion in July. However, the trend remains consistent: China continues to sell more goods abroad than it imports. This is particularly evident in the trade with Germany. In July, China exported goods worth $12.3 billion to Germany, a 17.4 percent rise compared to the same period last year, as per the data.

Chinese imports from Germany, on the other hand, decreased by 2.7 percent to $7.9 billion. Over a longer period, the surplus continues to grow: From January to July, China's exports to Germany rose by 18.8 percent to $79.7 billion. Imports from Germany increased by only 1.1 percent to $53 billion. As a result, China's trade surplus with Germany widened to nearly $27 billion over the first seven months.
