Abhijeet Dipke backs Jharkhand students' protest

NEW DELHI - In a bid to connect with Gen Z, Rahul Gandhi has taken to Instagram to address queries on his stance regarding the ongoing student protests in Jharkhand. The youngest member of the Nehru-Gandhi family stated that every government, irrespective of their affiliation, should strive to rectify an education system deemed "collapsed," "expensive," and "oppressive."

Rahul, speaking about the protests, emphasized that students nationwide are standing up against a flawed educational system. This sentiment is particularly significant as his party, the Congress, forms part of the JMM-led governing coalition in Jharkhand. The state unit of the Congress and its student wing, the National Students Union of India (NSUI), had previously met with Chief Minister Hemant Soren to support the cause of students.

In an unprecedented move, Rahul launched an Instagram page specifically for students and Gen-Z individuals to reach out and ask questions. The initiative followed a meeting he had with young protesters from the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) agitation across India. Among those present were Rhiya Ahir, who gained notoriety for blocking a police van in Mumbai, and Muskaan Sharma, who was allegedly subjected to a brutal assault by a police officer at Jantar Mantar on July 20.

While standing alongside the protesters during the news conference, Rahul alleged that the ruling party was dispatching goons to students' homes, forcing them to apologize, and subsequently receiving approval from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress leader asserted that those who defended the Constitution and upheld the spirit of India and its future are young, yet they face intimidation when confronted by the media.

Rahul questioned the courage of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in standing before the press.

The Congress leader extended his support to the protesting students, highlighting their courage and commitment to the cause.
