We studied India, US, Pakistan models for state police framework — IG

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu revealed that the committee responsible for developing the framework of the proposed state police system examined policing models from India, the United States, and Pakistan. Disu made this statement during a workshop on state police in Abuja where he emphasized the importance of educating senior officers on the proposed state police structure to alleviate their fears.

According to Disu, the committee's work came after initial disagreements over whether the police should develop its own framework or not. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum had already established its committee before the police committee commenced work. The IG said the police committee completed the initial framework within 17 days and that retired Inspectors-General of Police offered recommendations to improve the document.
