Wahl-O-Mat: Welche Partei bei der Landtagswahl in Sachsen-Anhalt zu Ihnen passt

Sachsen-Anhalt holds a new Landtag election on September 6th, focusing on key issues such as economy, education, migration, and internal security. To gauge which party best aligns with individual views, the Wahl-O-Mat tool is available to compare personal stances with those of the parties running for election. This online tool, offered by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb), allows users to rate statements on political matters, prioritize certain answers, and compare their responses to those of the parties.

The theses and answers come from an independent team, comprising young voters from Saxony-Anhalt, experts from academia, journalism, and education, and staff from the bpb. The team presents 80 theses to the participating parties, from which 38 are selected for the Wahl-O-Mat, chosen for their importance and controversial nature.

The parties do not participate in the creation or selection of the theses; they merely submit and approve their answers and justifications. All eligible parties for the Landtag election in Sachsen-Anhalt are invited to participate in the Wahl-O-Mat. The tool, launched in 2002, provides current information ahead of Landtag and Bundestag elections, as well as European Parliament elections.

The Landtag in Sachsen-Anhalt comprises six parties: CDU, AfD, Die Linke, SPD, FDP, and the Green Party, with a total of 41 electoral districts. The 2026 election date was decided by the Landtag in mid-May 2025. In addition to the six Landtag factions, 15 parties have officially registered for the September 6th election, including the Free Voters, Basis, Animal Protection Party, Garden Party, Party for Animal Alliance, BSW, PdF, and Volt Deutschland.

The CDU's candidate is Sven Schulze, who serves as the current Minister-President, appointed after Reiner Haseloff's premature resignation. The AfD's candidate is Ulrich Siegmund, elected at a party convention in May 2025. The SPD's candidate is Armin Willingmann, who has been Minister for Science, Energy, Climate Protection, and Environment since 2021.
