Ukrainian Defense Forces strike Yaroslavl oil refinery using FP-1 drones - video

On August 6, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched an attack on the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery using FP-1 drones, as reported by defense company Fire Point. The Yaroslavl Oil Refinery, operated by Slavneft-YANOS, is one of Russia's largest oil processing facilities, handling around 15 million metric tons of crude oil annually. This makes it a vital asset for the Russian refining industry, which relies on the plant to supply gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, and other petroleum products. The refinery has faced multiple attacks, including six fires earlier in 2026 alone.

Local Governor Mikhail Yevrayev reported that air defenses successfully neutralized the largest UAV attack, destroying all 88 drones without any reported casualties. However, the attack resulted in local damage, with one private home burning down, several apartment windows shattered, and residents' vehicles damaged. Authorities promptly closed Moskovsky Avenue to clear drone debris. Following the explosions, eyewitnesses confirmed that several private homes caught fire following the air defense activity.
