Texans Give Key Linebacker a Contract Extension

The Houston Texans have rewarded linebacker Henry To'oTo'o with a significant contract extension, valued at $16 million over two years. This contract may yield an additional $1 million for To'oTo'o if he meets certain incentives, as reported by NFL Network insiders Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. To'oTo'o is recognized as a crucial component of the NFL's top-tier defense.

In his rookie season of 2023, he amassed an impressive 61 total tackles. After his initial season, he transitioned into a starting role, maintaining his position as a consistent presence in Houston's formidable defense. Over his second and third seasons, To'oTo'o has averaged 100 tackles per year, with 16 of those being for loss, including four sacks.

He has also recorded an interception, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries throughout his tenure with the team. To'oTo'o was initially set to enter the final year of his rookie contract this season, but the Texans anticipated this and extended his commitment for two more years ahead of time. In his first full season, To'oTo'o played in 79% of the Texans' defensive snaps, contributing significantly to both defensive plays (17%) and special teams.
