Spent cartridge casing recovered from crime scene in Mir Raza Ali case: police

KARACHI police have made a significant breakthrough in the Mir Raza Ali case after discovering a spent cartridge casing at the crime scene in Gulistan-i-Jauhar. Raza, a 25-year-old IBA graduate and owner of the Wafflix eatery, went missing on July 28 and his body was found the following day with a gunshot wound in bushes near Shahi Qila Ground.

Senior Superintendent of Police Dr Samiullah Soomro, leading the Special Investigation Unit, revealed that a special search team, comprising four station house officers and 40 constables, meticulously examined the scene and recovered the fired bullet shell. This discovery, consistent with the bullet's projected trajectory, is being hailed as a critical piece of physical evidence that will aid in forensic examination, ballistic analysis, and reconstructing the events leading to Raza's death.

The case gained further attention when Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed raised questions about discrepancies in the post-mortem report, prompting the court to order the exhumation of Raza's remains for a fresh medical examination.
